Ethical Search Engine Optimization aka People Are Not Stupid

Date February 26, 2008

people are your trafficIts not in my plan to make this post but recently with the steady traffic I’m receiving on my blog I have also attracted many “unwanted” banklinks. In case you don’t already know there are other bloggers out to suck traffic using very lazy methods.

Sure, bum marketing (getting traffic by means of massive article submission) works but there is a danger to becoming idle.

Let me explain, you can’t really get quality traffic unless you put your heart out to present yourself, your work to people. They see your work quality and begin to trust you.

I’m a believer of true article marketing and writing my own contents. It also works if you are doing pay per click, ezine advertising or just plain cold calling. People are not stupid. They can tell if you are full of stinking fart or a breath of fresh air (or content!).

Perhaps this post might sound a little “rushed” but I feel the urge to write this post because there is an alarming rate of dishonest marketers now. Okay, I do not want to name any names but just to prove my point…

Ethical search engine optimization really is a concept that means you get organic (natural or non paid) traffic to your website. While it is not that hard, it is not necessarily easy too.

That is precisely why you see some SPLOGS or Spam Blogs popping up nowadays.

Here’s some pointers to avoid wasting your time reading SPLOGS:

1. You go to their blog and can’t find any sort of complete profile about them or talking about their personalities.

2. They post other people’s articles or posts on their website 90% of the time.

3. You can only find Adsense Banners or no real meat to the content (dangerous for your brain)

4. Maybe the blog has traffic but they keep saying they made money almost everyday

5. You visit the blog and post comments but it seems like the blog owner NEVER posts any responses

All the best in your “lousy content prevention programme” activities. I’ve only posted what I know based on my learning experiences so do drop your comments about the stinkiest websites you’ve ever seen ok! It should be fun ;)

PS: This is a reminder to me to make another article about how some ’so-called’ marketers make money by developing a website and posting “seriously fake” stats. I’ve been thinking and I finally pieced together how some of these unethical boys make their money preying on poor folks online.

Stay tuned!

@ Bruce - do I? well, I can’t please everyone so I prefer to keep my blog totally honest with myself and to everyone here. At least this will be how I will keep this blog running.

Not that I totally despise these blogs as they are firstly created by real human beings because its useful to drive traffic to our sites. But just becareful about them if you suddenly find a ton of trackbacks.

It could cost you the way people perceive your blog and associations if you allow them to appear in your comment boxes.
